how ducks get their food in the water?
ducks get their food by putting their heads down in to the water. as you can see on the left in this picture from a park pond. most ducks smell their food. mallard ducks are dabbling ducks this is because of the way they find their food on the surface of the water and some times they can do a bit of up ending. there is also another why that ducks find their food which is diving ducks the ducks that use this technique are called smews diving ducks search for there food through sight. they dive in to the water a find their food this is where they get their name from. also there is one more way that a duck can find their food. this is where they graze on the grass on the edge of the pond. the ducks that use this method are wigeons. this means they don't have to search for there food as often as the dabbling and diving ducks as they have the grass to graze. this picture is of 2 mallards and a female duck these are dabbling ducks which are upending to find their food which they have smelt. this is also a method for swans and geese.
